Norwegian Sonic Ice Queen, SUSANNE SUNDFOR, has just announced that she is to play Polar Jazz, in February 2016.
Advertised as the world’s northernmost jazz festival, Polar Jazz has been running since 1998. It is held annually, in Longyearbyen, on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, which given its location, certainly makes Polar Jazz one of the most unique of jazz festivals. Since its inception, it has acquired a loyal, hard-core following thereby ensuring its continued success.
Over the years, Polar Jazz has seen a diversity of some of Norway’s best jazz performers and other musicians feature in its line up. Adapted over time, to suit both the needs and demands of its fanbase, Polar Jazz now offers cross generational entertainment for all ages, including a youth oriented programme of events held in kindergartens, schools and the local youth club. The more adult festival programme crosses from day into night, offering a wide eclectic selection of intimate gigs and concerts.
Other artists featured on the 2016 line up are, INGEBJØRG BRATLAND, SOFIA JANNOK and MATILDA.
Susanne Sundfor, meanwhile is rounding off a successful year with the continuation of her hugely successful Ten Love Songs promotional tour. She plays Polar Jazz on Saturday, 6th February.
