DervSwerve is an Irish wordsmith, copywriter, music blogger and reviewer with a mega passion for sounds particularly indie, electro-classical and anything that sounds remotely like Radiohead. A freelance contributor to various online magazines, she also pens a monthly Nordic column for her mates over at The Monitors.

Derv is passionate about supporting emerging artists and helping them achieve their aim of breaking into the music industry, both within the Irish & UK market and beyond. This passion was identified and nurtured by the iconic Tom Robinson for whom she moderates and reviews, as part of team Fresh on the Net (BBC Introducing).

Derval lives in Dublin but wishes she lived in a stone cottage in West Cork where, she could ramble aimlessly by the sea, whilst concocting new words with which to describe the latest musical delicacies on which she is feasting.

She is a firm believer in the motto – “all good things come to those who wait”, but wants to ask one teeny question … “how much longer?”

  1. I was interested to read your review of Highasakite’s recent Dublin gig. I was at the band’s Manchester gig the following night and your review could equally have described that show. I am one one those who saw the band supporting Of Monsters and Men and who, by the first harmonized chorus of Lover, Where Do You Live? their first number that night, was captured and committed. If the power had cut after their act, I wouldn’t have felt cheated by the evening’s entertainment.
It is good to see such positive reviews of the band as they clearly deserve a massive audience. I am totally with you on the contribution that each member of the band makes. If ever the was a band invented solely for the invention of super-superlatives, this is it.
More power to your elbow for your efforts to bring Highasakite to a wider audience.
